Increase of pollution, especially air pollution is a global problem and in our country too. From a recent research it is revealed that 52.8% children of Kolkata & Delhi have suffered from respiratory problem due to pollution. In this respect, 35th national conference of Indian Academy of Pediatrics respiratory chapter ‘RESPICON 2023” is being held on third to Fifth November in Kolkata.
In this gathering of esteemed medical professionals at the Pediatric Pulmonology Conference, the urgent issue of environmental pollution’s impact on childhood lung diseases took center stage. Experts from various fields converged to shed light on the growing concern and discuss potential solutions.
Highlighted prominently was the alarming correlation between rising environmental pollution levels and the surge in respiratory ailments among children. Presenters emphasized the detrimental effects of air pollutants, including particulate matter and toxic gases, on vulnerable developing lungs, often leading to asthma, bronchitis, and other chronic respiratory conditions.
