Kolkata Shines Spotlight on Differently Abled Cricket to Promote Inclusion in Sports
Kolkata: The Eastern Zonal Tournament for Differently Abled Cricket Teams was recently held at BKC College Grounds, Baranagar. The tournament was organized by the West Bengal Cricket Association for the Differently Abled (WBCADA).
Four teams took part in the tournament — West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar and Jharkhand. All teams played with great spirit and teamwork.
The final match was played between Bihar and Odisha. Odisha won the tournament and became the Champion. The winning team received a cash prize of Rs. 25,000, while the runners-up team received Rs. 15,000.
Rajesh Pradhan of Odisha, who won the Player of the Match award in the final, said that cricket gives him confidence and makes him feel strong and equal.
Utpal Majumder, Secretary and Coach of WBCADA, said the tournament helped break social barriers and showed that cricket is for everyone.
