Celebrating 150th Birth Anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda at Kushal Palli Resort
The 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the revered tribal leader and freedom fighter, was celebrated with grandeur at the Kushal Palli Resort in Ajyodhya Hills.
The event, held on a serene autumn day, was a fitting tribute to the legacy of the “Bhagwan of the Earth”, who played a pivotal role in the history of the tribal community and India’s struggle for independence.
The highlight of the day’s celebrations was the unveiling of a beautiful statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, a striking work of art that now stands proudly at the resort. The statue was inaugurated by Jyotsna Mandi, the Minister of State for Food and Supplies, in the presence of several esteemed dignitaries, including Nivedita Mahato, Sabhadipati of Purulia Zilla Parishad, Sushanta Mahato, MLA of Baghmundi, Padmashree awardee Gaach Baba, Padma Shree awardee Gambhir Singh Mura’s family, and Naresh Agarwal, Managing Director of Kushal Bharat Group.
The event was more than just a ceremonial unveiling; it was a celebration of the culture and spirit of the tribal community. The day unfolded like a vibrant festival, with various cultural and community activities. The Santhal Dance Competition saw enthusiastic participation from locals, showcasing traditional dance forms that have been passed down through generations. Children also showcased their creativity in a drawing competition, with winners receiving accolades from the dignitaries.
One of the major attractions of the day was the Mundari Dance, a traditional tribal dance that captivated the audience with its rhythm and vigor, offering a window into the rich cultural heritage of the region.
In keeping with the spirit of service and compassion that Bhagwan Birsa Munda stood for, the organizers held a blanket distribution program, where nearly 500 people from the surrounding areas received blankets, a gesture of warmth and solidarity during the cooler months.
The program came to a heartwarming conclusion with a vote of thanks by Kushal Agarwal, the Managing Director of Kushal Bharat Group, who expressed gratitude to the guests, participants, and the community for their involvement in making the event a resounding success. The day ended with the distribution of Khichuri Bhog (a traditional dish) to all attendees, symbolizing the spirit of togetherness and sharing that Bhagwan Birsa Munda promoted.
This celebration at Kushal Palli Resort was not only a remembrance of a great leader but also a reminder of the values of unity, justice, and community that Bhagwan Birsa Munda embodied. It was a day of reflection, festivity, and solidarity, marking an important milestone in honoring his legacy.
