Father’s Day celebrated on June 16, 2024 via “WALKATHON 2024”
The annual flagship programme of Father’s Day, titled Walkathon and captioned – “Walking with the Father for the Child” is organised every year by Ayushman Initiative for Child Rights, a public charitable trust working in the area of shared parenting and parental alienation of children in distress or alienated due to the
estrangement and or divorce / separation of their parents. The event is organised in association with various organisations like ISPAT and others and
is aimed to commemorate International Father’s Day.
International Father’s Day is held on the third Sunday of each year to
celebrate and honour the fathers all around the globe. The origin of father’s day may lie in a memorial service held for a large group of men, mainly fathers who were killed in a mining accident in Monongah, West Virginia in 1907.
This year’s walk was inaugurated by several dignitaries like Debasis Kumar, Hon’ble MLA & MMIC, GoWB , International Grand Master Dibyendu Barua,

Fernandes, noted Film Director Ashok Viswanathan, percussionist Pt Mallar
Ghosh, Poet Mallika Ghosh and host of other dignitaries.
The walk was attended by people from all walks of life including students and the dignitaries
shared their reminisces about their fathers at the end of the walk. Theme song of the event was sung by Arnab Basu.
Mr Arijit Mitra, Hon. Secretary of Ayushman stressed that this day is dedicated specially to those fathers who are deprived and alienated from meeting their children due to disputes with their better halves and requested the society to come forward and collectively
address this problem.
The route of the walk was from Karunamoyee metro station to City Centre 1.
The programme ended with vote of thanks by Sri Ritesh Basak, secretary of ISPAT.
Chief Organizer -ARIJIT MITRA (Hon Secretary, Ayushman Initiative for Child Rights) hoped that such awareness events will be undertaken frequently by other organizations also.
