RAJKUMAR DAS

Hyphenated artist Jharna hosted an event for the launch of her book MONOSCOPE at Press Club Kolkata. MONOSCOPE is a life changing collection of twenty five short stories highlighting the subject of women’s struggle in today’s world. Published from the house of “Barta Prakasan”, the book is a testimony of our society and its behaviour towards woman. Jharna herself is a renowned voice over artist. She believes apart from writing scripts, poetry, stories, audio dramas & feature films, documentaries are a part of life or can be said to be the solace of survival.

In a world designed by men for men, women are often unheard, unrecognised, and under-valued despite contributing immensely to society. This huge gap is based on a misogynist and defective economic system, which places women at the centre
of the debate on the current crisis of capitalism. Women are the first to feel the effects of this crisis. After fighting many battles as a girl, Jharna made a name for herself. The journey started with her first poetry book ‘Tomar Dewa Naam’. She has penned down many songs for Monomoy Bhattacharya, Sreeradha Banerjee, Lopamudra Mitra, Saikat Mitra, Rupankar Bagchi, Surojit Chatterjee, Anindya Chatterjee and many more.

Eminent personalities in their respective domains like, Madan Mitra, Member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, Debasish Kumar, Member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, Alakananda Roy, Indian actress, Mr. Andalib Elias, Hon’ble Dy. High Commissioner of Bangladesh, Kolkata , Satinath Mukhopadhyay, Renowned artist , Kushal Chakroborty, Bengali actor and film director graced the occasion with their presence.

Jharna, author MONOSCOPE , said “My stories epitomises the life and struggle of every women in their life cycle from a girl to dotage. I would keep my journey intact while trying to shed the darkness with the light of my pen.”
