Emami Foundation & Tech Mahindra Foundation launch SMART Sukanya, a unique collaboration focusing on developing skills of marginalized youth, with an emphasis on women
Tech Mahindra Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of Tech Mahindra Ltd. and Emami Foundation, the CSR wing of the FMCG company, Emami Ltd. are committed to bringing high quality skilling solutions to the underserved communities of Kolkata.
Speaking at the occasion, Shri Chetan Kapoor, CEO, Tech Mahindra Foundation said, “We work extensively on the vision of ‘Empowerment through Education’ with two key focus areas – Education and Employability, with a growing attention on women empowerment. Disability remains a cutting-across theme across our programs. Today we are extremely happy to announce this partnership with the Emami Foundation. There is a growing need for imparting job-oriented, market linked training for the disadvantaged youth, and through this project we are reaffirming our commitment to making the youth of India skilled and self-reliant.”
Shri S. K. Goenka, Director, Emami Limited, said, “Emami has been engaged in charities and philanthropic activities, along with a number of other social activities. Our vision is to promote education, fight against hunger, provide medical relief and help in combating chronic disease and today is a joyous occasion for us as we join hands with Tech Mahindra Foundation. We hope to leverage the strengths of our respective organizations to make this a truly remarkable collaboration of training the underprivileged youth in job-oriented courses and facilitating their employment”
The SMART Sukanya program has been launched at 48B, Muktaram Babu Street in the heart of the city of Kolkata to enhance the employability skills of hundreds of young women and men in the city and help them gain meaningful employment in sectors such as Retail, Finance & Accounting, and ITES. This association with Emami Foundation is an extension of Tech Mahindra Foundation’s existing work in the city, in which over 1000 youth and around 500 children with disabilities are being supported through various projects.
