Somy Ali recovers after being attacked by a sex trafficker
Actress Somy Ali, who runs a US-based NGO called No More Tears, was recently attacked by a sex trafficker. Somy, who through her NGO, works tirelessly to save and protect victims of domestic violence, rape and sex trafficking, broke her wrist while trying to save a victim of violence. She took to Instagram to give her fans an update about her health, and also to thank the people who helped her out. “I want to give a huge shoutout to Dr. David Blum (the best orthopedic surgeon ever) for seeing me after a trafficker broke my wrist and hand when we were rescuing a victim. I want to thank my best friend @themelissamccune for coordinating the appointment ASAP,” she wrote, along with a video talking about the incident.
She added, “This is my ninth or tenth attack in 17 years and now precisely at this moment the 19 year old we were rescuing is now safe and back home in Delhi, India. I am so happy that she is safe and we were able to get to the traffickers except one who came after me, but will pay the price in prison.” She further wrote, “Well, the good thing is that I can still work. Plus, I am not a lefty and I owe Dr. Blum and my BFF @themelissamccune for always being there for me. Thank you, my angels from above. Dr. Blum has been treating @nomoretearsusa Survivors pro bono for years now and was also a part of our discovery+ docu-series in 2021.”
