Half-yearly meeting of Narakas (Project-2), Kolkata in coordination with Cell
Kolkata, 25th August 2026: The half-yearly meeting of Nagar Rajbhasha Karyanoyan Samiti (Project-2), Kolkata in coordination with Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), CMO, Kolkata office was held on 25th August 2026 at Dhandhanya Auditorium, Kolkata. The meeting was presided over by Shri Surendra Kumar Sharma, Executive Director (Finance & Accounts), SAIL, CMO and President, Narakas (Project-2), Kolkata. Shri Umesh Roy, Hon’ble Minister of State, Parliamentary Affairs and Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Government of West Bengal, was present as the Chief Guest.
On this occasion, Shri Surendra Kumar Sharma, Executive Director and President, Narakas (Project-2), SAIL, CMO; Shri Rathendra Raman, Chairman, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Port; Shri Samrat Rahi, Vice Chairman, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Port; Commodore Rakesh Chillar, Chairman & Managing Director, The Braithwaite Barn & Jessop Construction Company Limited; Commodore P.R. Hari, Chairman & Managing Director, Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited, Kolkata; Shri Anant Mohan Singh, Chairman & Managing Director, Andrew Yule & Company Limited; Shri R. Veerabahu, Director (Finance), Braithwaite & Company Limited; Shri Vasant Kumar Bhuiyan, Regional Executive Director, Airports Authority of India; Shri Sudipta Banerjee, Deputy General Manager, Engineers India Limited, along with Heads of Offices and senior officers of various public sector undertakings were present.
The Chief General Manager (Human Resources) of the Cell and the Secretary of the Association, Shri Prashant Ojha welcomed all the guests and participants present and presented the report of the Association.
The meeting was specially attended by Dr. Bichitrasen Gupta, Deputy Director (Implementation), Department of Official Languages, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and Shri Jitendra Prasad, Deputy Director (East), Hindi Teaching Scheme. About 120 representatives including officers of various offices of the Department of Official Languages, Government of India located in Kolkata metropolis and heads of offices of various public sector organizations and officers of Hindi Cell participated in the meeting.
The progress of implementation of Official Language Hindi in various public sector organizations was reviewed in the meeting. Dr. Bichitrasen Gupta reviewed the status of implementation of Official Language and gave important suggestions to make it more effective. Shri Jitendra Prasad provided information related to Hindi education and training. On the other hand, Shri S.K. Srivastava of the Central Translation Bureau presented important information regarding translation related activities.
