Leading Surgeons Gather at Apollo Multi-specialty Hospitals, Kolkata for Advanced Voice & Airway Surgery Workshop

Kolkata, June 2026: Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata successfully conducted “Illuminati Season 3”, a two-day national workshop on Voice, Laser and Airway Surgery, bringing together leading ENT specialists, laryngologists, surgeons, anesthetists and pulmonologists from across the country. The workshop served as a platform for knowledge sharing, skill enhancement and hands-on training in some of the most advanced techniques and technologies used in voice and airway care.

Organized under the leadership of Dr. Shantanu Panja, Chief Surgeon and Senior Consultant, Department of ENT – Head & Neck Surgery at Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata, Illuminati Season 3 was designed to equip medical professionals with practical knowledge and exposure to the latest advancements in the field. Participants attended from various parts of India, including major medical hubs such as Delhi, Pune and Kochi.

The two-day programme featured a combination of lectures, live discussions, interactive sessions and hands-on workstation training. The workshop focused on advanced procedures such as laryngeal framework surgery, laryngotracheal reconstruction, laser surgery techniques, radiofrequency procedures and office-based laryngeal interventions. Participants also received practical exposure through dedicated workstation-based learning modules designed to improve clinical skills and surgical precision.

One of the key highlights of Illuminati Season 3 was the presence of renowned faculty members from across India who shared their expertise and clinical experiences with participants. The workshop also emphasized a multidisciplinary approach to airway management through special sessions led by senior anesthetists and pulmonologists, highlighting the importance of collaborative patient care and safety.

The event marked an important step in Apollo Kolkata’s vision of advancing specialized medical education and strengthening expertise in voice and airway surgery. It also reflected the hospital’s long-term commitment to developing a dedicated Centre of Excellence for Voice, Laser and Airway Surgery, aimed at providing advanced treatment and training opportunities in Eastern India.

Shimanti Das, Founder of Joyjeet Das Memorial School and the visionary behind the DASHOBHUJA initiative, has launched a special dance education program for underprivileged children with the aim of empowering them through the performing arts and helping them become self-reliant in the future.

To lead this initiative, internationally acclaimed Odissi dancer Avirup Sengupta has been recruited as the dance instructor. Avirup has been working with special children for many years and also runs a dedicated dance school for specially-abled children. Through his guidance and expertise, the program aims to nurture talent, build confidence, and create future opportunities for children from less privileged backgrounds.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Hon’ble MLA Papiya Adhikari and renowned oncologist Dr. Madhuchanda Kar as Special Guests, who appreciated the initiative’s focus on inclusion, empowerment, and social development through the arts.

Under the leadership of Founder Shimanti Das, Joyjeet Das Memorial School continues to create meaningful opportunities for children from underserved communities. The event also featured the felicitation of several eminent personalities for their contributions to society.

Rabindra Sarobar, South Kolkata’s iconic National Lake and one of the city’s most cherished green spaces, is celebrating World Environment Day 2026 with a special flower-bearing and fruit-bearing tree plantation drive organized by Kisaanka by Shrestha Ganguly, with support from KMDA.

Observed globally on 5 June, World Environment Day 2026 is being celebrated under the theme “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future,” highlighting the urgent need for collective climate action under the global campaign #NowForClimate led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

Known as one of Kolkata’s “lungs,” Rabindra Sarobar spans over 73 acres of lush greenery and serves as a vital biodiversity hotspot, supporting migratory birds, native trees, and aquatic life. The lake continues to be a focal point for environmental initiatives, bringing together nature lovers, morning walkers, environmental groups, and local communities.

The plantation drive by Kisaanka, an environmental initiative founded by Shrestha Ganguly, aims to encourage ecological restoration, increase green cover, and inspire citizens to actively participate in creating a more sustainable future. The initiative involves the planting of flower-bearing and fruit-bearing saplings around the lake precincts, contributing to biodiversity enhancement and environmental awareness.

The event is graced by MLA Swapan Dasgupta,whose presence underscores the importance of collective efforts towards environmental conservation and sustainable development.

The programme draws inspiration from S. M. Ghosh, whose continued efforts significantly contribute to environmental conservation and community engagement around Rabindra Sarobar.

As the world comes together to celebrate World Environment Day, the plantation drive at Rabindra Sarobar serves as a reminder that protecting nature and combating climate change begin with collective local action.

তীব্র দহনে জ্বলছে বাংলা সহ গোটা ভারত।বিশ্ব উষ্ণতা বৃদ্ধিতে অন্যতম কারণ যততত্র গাছ কাটা।ঠিক এইরকম পরিস্থিতিতে শুক্রবার সকালে কলকাতা পুলিশের তরফে পিজি হাসপাতাল সংলগ্ন পিটিএস চত্বরে মহাসমারোহে পালিত হলো বিশ্ব পরিবেশ দিবস। এই কর্মসূচি সার্থক করতে হাজির ছিলেন কলকাতা পুলিশের সিংহভাগ আধিকারিক। কলকাতা পুলিশের অতিরিক্ত পুলিশ কমিশনার ডিপি সিং, শুভঙ্কর সিনহা সরকার,  পান্ডে সন্তোষ প্রমুখ এদিন বৃক্ষরোপণ কর্মসূচির সূচনা করেন। প্রত্যেক পুলিশ কর্মীর হাতে তুলে দেওয়া হয় বিভিন্ন ধরনের  চারাগাছ। কলকাতা পুলিশের অতিরিক্ত পুলিশ কমিশনার ডিপি সিং মহাশয় বলেন – ” বিশুদ্ধ অক্সিজেন সহ মনোরম আবহাওয়া পেতে আমাদের প্রত্যেকের উচিত গাছ লাগানো “।   এদিন রাজ্যের মুখ্যমন্ত্রী শুভেন্দু অধিকারী সারা রাজ্যে ১ কোটি ১০ লক্ষ গাছ লাগাবার নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন। এর পাশাপাশি জাতীয় সড়ক /রাজ্য সড়ক, আবাসন প্রভৃতি জায়গায় সবুজময় পরিবেশ গড়তে বলা হয়েছে। আসন্ন ১৪ জুলাই থেকে ২০ জুলাই বিশেষ অরণ্য সপ্তাহ পালনে প্রস্তুতি পর্ব ইতিমধ্যেই শুরু হয়েছে।

সহজপাঠের আদর্শে উজ্জীবিত করে, ছাত্রছাত্রীদের মধ্যে শিক্ষা ও সাহিত্য সংস্কৃতির প্রতি আগ্রহী করে তুলতে পারলে আয়োজন সার্থক হবে।

কর্ডলাইফ ইন্ডিয়ার “সেভ দ্য সিবলিং” উদ্যোগে থ্যালাসেমিয়া আক্রান্ত পরিবারে নতুন আশার আলো

থ্যালাসেমিয়ায় আক্রান্ত শিশুদের জন্য নতুন আশার দিগন্ত উন্মোচন করেছে কর্ডলাইফ ইন্ডিয়ার “সেভ দ্য সিবলিং” উদ্যোগ। কর্ডলাইফ ইন্ডিয়ার পরিকল্পনা ও সহায়তায় এই প্রকল্পটি ১৪ নভেম্বর ২০২২ সালে শুরু হয়, যার মূল লক্ষ্য ছিল গুরুতর থ্যালাসেমিয়ায় আক্রান্ত শিশুদের উন্নত স্টেম সেল চিকিৎসার মাধ্যমে সুস্থ জীবনের সুযোগ করে দেওয়া।

এই উদ্যোগের অধীনে প্রথম সফল চিকিৎসার নজির স্থাপিত হয় ১৬ অক্টোবর ২০২৫ সালে। চিকিৎসার কেন্দ্রে ছিল সাত বছর বয়সী অক্ষয় সরকার ধ্রুব, যিনি Hb E Beta-Thalassemia-এ আক্রান্ত ছিলেন। শৈশব থেকেই তাকে বেঁচে থাকার জন্য নিয়মিত রক্ত সঞ্চালনের উপর নির্ভর করতে হতো। ফলে তার শরীরে অতিরিক্ত আয়রন জমে গুরুতর স্বাস্থ্যঝুঁকিও তৈরি হয়েছিল।

পরিবারের মধ্যে সম্পূর্ণভাবে মিলে যায় এমন কোনো স্টেম সেল দাতা না পাওয়ায়, ডাঃ রাজীব আগরওয়াল ও তাঁর বিশেষজ্ঞ দলের তত্ত্বাবধানে উন্নত জেনেটিক পরীক্ষাসহ বিশেষ IVF পদ্ধতির আশ্রয় নেওয়া হয়। এর মাধ্যমে নিশ্চিত করা হয় যে নবজাতক শিশুটি হবে সম্পূর্ণ সুস্থ এবং বড় ভাইয়ের জন্য উপযুক্ত স্টেম সেল ম্যাচ।

পরবর্তীতে কন্যাসন্তান আরাধ্যার জন্মের পর তার নাভিরজ্জুর রক্ত (Cord Blood) থেকে সংগৃহীত স্টেম সেল কর্ডলাইফ ইন্ডিয়ার মাধ্যমে অত্যাধুনিক ক্রায়োজেনিক প্রযুক্তিতে সংরক্ষণ করা হয়। একই সঙ্গে শিশুটির মা, শ্রীমতী মাধবী রাণী, ডাঃ জয়দীপ চক্রবর্তীর নেতৃত্বাধীন মেডিক্যাল টিমের তত্ত্বাবধানে হাফ-ম্যাচড (Half-Matched) ডোনার হিসেবে স্টেম সেল দান করেন।

এরপর চিকিৎসকরা মায়ের স্টেম সেল এবং নবজাতক বোনের কর্ড ব্লাড স্টেম সেল ব্যবহার করে যৌথ স্টেম সেল প্রতিস্থাপন (Combined Stem Cell Transplant) সম্পন্ন করেন। দীর্ঘ চিকিৎসা ও নিবিড় পর্যবেক্ষণের পর অক্ষয় সম্পূর্ণভাবে সুস্থ হয়ে ওঠে। বর্তমানে তার আর নিয়মিত রক্ত সঞ্চালনের প্রয়োজন হয় না এবং সে স্থিতিশীল ও সুস্থ জীবনযাপন করছে।

কর্ডলাইফ ইন্ডিয়ার “সেভ দ্য সিবলিং” উদ্যোগের আওতায় IVF, কর্ড ব্লাড সংরক্ষণ এবং প্রতিস্থাপন-সংক্রান্ত ব্যয়ের একটি উল্লেখযোগ্য অংশে সহায়তা প্রদান করা হয়েছিল।

এই সাফল্য স্টেম সেল ব্যাংকিংয়ের ক্রমবর্ধমান গুরুত্ব এবং সংরক্ষিত কর্ড ব্লাডের জীবনরক্ষাকারী চিকিৎসায় সম্ভাবনাকে নতুনভাবে তুলে ধরেছে। একই সঙ্গে এটি প্রমাণ করে যে, আজ নবজাতকের স্টেম সেল সংরক্ষণ ভবিষ্যতে পরিবারের জন্য এক অমূল্য জৈব সম্পদ হয়ে উঠতে পারে, যা প্রয়োজনে উন্নত চিকিৎসার গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সুযোগ এনে দিতে সক্ষম।

আগামী ১৪ জুন, ২০২৬, ফণীভূষণ বিদ্যাবিনোদ মঞ্চ, বাগবাজার, কলকাতায় সমাজের সেই সব সবিশেষ ব্যক্তিত্বদের অন্বেষণ করে এই সম্মানে ভূষিত ও পুরস্কৃত করা হচ্ছে।
এই উপলক্ষ্যে ১ জুন, ২০২৬ কলকাতা প্রেস ক্লাবে অভিষিক্তা কালচারাল ইউনিট ও ইনার আই আয়োজন করেছে এক সাংবাদিক সম্মেলনের। সেখানে বিশিষ্ট অতিথি মাননীয় ড. পবিত্র সরকারের উপস্থিতিতে উদ্বোধন হল “বঙ্গ শিরোপা সম্মান ২০২৬” —এই সম্মাননা অনুষ্ঠানের। সাংবাদিক সম্মেলনে উপস্থিত ছিলেন এই সম্মানে সম্মানিত হবেন যাঁরা, সেই বিশিষ্ট ব্যক্তিরাও। তাঁদের পরিচয় পর্বের পাশাপাশি এই দিন উন্মোচিত হল তাঁদের সাফল্যের পেছনের কাহিনী নিয়ে লেখা “সাফল্যের সাতকাহন” বইয়ের প্রচ্ছদ। এই বই প্রকাশিত হবে ১৪ জুন ২০২৬ মূল সম্মাননা অনুষ্ঠানের দিন। সেদিনও উপস্থিত থাকবেন বাংলার বিভিন্ন ক্ষেত্রের বহু বিশিষ্ট ব্যক্তিবর্গ।

• Established to strengthen access to Primary and Specialist Care

Kolkata, June, 2026: Under its CSR initiative, Jupiter International Limited has funded the establishment of ‘Sneh Sparsh’ – A Healing Touch, a 1,890 sq. ft. community health clinic in Dakshin Barasat near Joynagar, developed in partnership with RC Mayfair and RCC Suchetna. The clinic was inaugurated, marking an important step toward improving access to timely, reliable, and dignified healthcare for families across the surrounding communities—especially where specialist consultation and consistent medical support are often limited.

Designed as a patient-friendly and accessible facility, ‘Sneh Sparsh’ includes essential infrastructure such as dedicated doctors’ chambers, a reception area, toilets, and consultation spaces. The clinic has been built around a continuity-of-care model, moving beyond one-time medical camps to create a structured healthcare touchpoint for the community. Specialist doctors—including gynaecologists, orthopaedic experts, general physicians, paediatricians, and other visiting practitioners—will visit the clinic every week to enable regular consultations, early diagnosis, and ongoing medical guidance. There are plans to have a medicine counter at the facility which will further ease access to treatment and help reduce the burden of travel, time, and cost for patients and their families.

The initiative reflects Jupiter International’s commitment to community wellbeing as an integral part of its sustainability agenda. By supporting accessible healthcare infrastructure, the company aims to strengthen preventive care and early intervention, supporting improved health outcomes particularly for women, children, senior citizens, and working families.
